MY LAST WILL

The series was comissioned to the artist for the multimedia exhibition “My Last Will”, presented at Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain in coproduction with Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz in 2023 and initiated by the German-Luxembourg artist duo M+M (Marc Weis and Martin De Mattia), accompanied by an artist book published by Franz and Walther König.
For the exhibitions and publication Loukia Alavanou has combined repetitive nursery rhymes with the fleeting images and codes of social media. “To a certain extent,” the artist said, “I wanted to ask ‘what remains’ in relation to ‘storytelling’ and preservation of aural history. Given that today a ‘story’ is signified by an instant image with a lifespan of 24 hours, what will remain as ‘history’ from our times, and by whom will it be structured and preserved?”
